About the role

As an Insurance Claims Assistant, you’ll play a key role in our busy Legal, Governance and Compliance team, supporting a wide range of motor and liability insurance matters. You’ll be responsible for registering and diarising new claims, gathering evidence and statements, assisting with uninsured loss cases, drafting reports, and helping to arrange vehicle repairs. The role also involves communicating with internal and external stakeholders, contacting courts, preparing weekly reports, managing ad‑hoc enquiries and outstanding actions, and keeping our records accurate and up to date - making this a fantastic opportunity to build expertise across the full lifecycle of insurance claims within a fast‑paced, supportive department.

Key responsibilities

  • Registering, diarising and maintaining accurate records for motor and liability insurance claims
  • Supporting the full lifecycle of claims, including uninsured loss cases and arranging vehicle repairs
  • Investigating incidents by gathering evidence, statements and documentation, and liaising with courts where required
  • Communicating effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders and managing ad‑hoc enquiries
  • Preparing reports, weekly updates and other documentation while progressing outstanding actions
  • Supporting wider administrative and co‑ordination duties across the Legal, Governance and Compliance team

About you

  • Insurance claims experience is preferable, or strong business knowledge of Halfords
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Highly motivated, proactive and able to take ownership of tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging stakeholders
