Nature and Scope of the Role
The Director of Fleet Solutions will be responsible for creating and delivering the three to five-year strategic plan for Halfords Fleet business, ensuring continued growth and operational excellence across the Garaging division.
The successful candidate will lead the commercial relationships for large company vehicle fleets, working closely with Halfords garage operations to deliver outstanding customer service and drive sustainable profitability.
This is a high-impact leadership role that requires a blend of strategic thinking, commercial acumen and operational expertise. The postholder will play a key role in shaping the future of Halfords Fleet proposition, building strong partnerships with major clients and positioning Halfords as the partner of choice for national fleet maintenance and servicing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Full P&L accountability for the Fleet businesses
- Oversee every element of the sales lifecycle from demand generation and conversion to account management and financial management
- Lead a total team of approximately 100 people incorporating sales, account management, commercial and trading analysis, customer services, marketing and process improvement
- Through your direct reports, inspire, guide and develop others, setting stretching targets, coaching and supporting delivery
- Deliver market share growth in all key areas of fleet, expanding the core business into new potential markets
- Grow Fleet to No.1 in the UK market within five years
- Create and develop strong connections and own the most senior relationships with key clients
- Be the industry leader for fleet business, taking positions in relevant industry bodies
- Lead interactions with Managing Directors and all internal stakeholders to support the divisional businesses and enable delivery of company strategy and plans
Key Skills, Attributes and Qualifications
- Ability to influence both internally and externally at the most senior level
- Ideally experienced within a similar fleet or automotive industry environment or with closely aligned B2B services experience
- Proven experience in a B2B leadership role encompassing marketing, sales, account management, P&L ownership and people leadership
- Strong strategic development capability
- High level of commercial acumen and trading experience
- Progressive career experience including relevant executive-level roles
- Demonstrates customer-first and client-first mindset
- Passionate, ambitious and driven to join a rapidly expanding business and team
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to inspire others
- Skilled at building, leading and developing teams and culture
- Relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
