About the role
As a Sales & Account Executive at Halfords for Business, you’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional service to our growing portfolio of clients and partners. With a strong focus on driving growth, you’ll be responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing new opportunities across your assigned and self-generated client base. You’ll manage and renegotiate contracts in line with set KPIs, ensuring every interaction reflects the high standards and ambition that define Halfords for Business.
Reporting to the Sales & Account Team Leader, you’ll combine proactive lead generation with best-in-class account management. From onboarding new clients and ensuring legal and financial compliance, to cross-selling our diverse range of products and services—including Employee Benefits, Trade, and Wholesale—you’ll be at the heart of our commercial success. You’ll need excellent relationship-building skills, a sharp commercial mindset, and the ability to collaborate across teams to maximise every opportunity and deliver outstanding customer experiences.
*This role will cover a wide patch north of the West Midlands*
Key responsibilities
- Manage and grow exceptional corporate client relationships, with KPIs focused on win rates, retention, account growth, and renegotiation opportunities.
- Confidently negotiate contracts, with a strong understanding of Halfords for Business’ terms, supplier agreements, and lease conditions—seeking opportunities to optimise deals.
- Maximise every client interaction through expert selling, cross-selling, presenting, and closing—making every conversation count.
- Leverage strong business relationships to unlock wider opportunities and promote the full range of Halfords for Business products and services.
- Independently generate leads and convert them into high-value accounts—owning the process from prospecting through to account management.
- Understand the importance of profitability, driving high-volume, high-margin sales with a commercial mindset.
- Deliver compelling client presentations with confidence and professionalism, both in-person and virtually.
- Collaborate with marketing to explore cost-effective employee communication strategies that boost engagement and improve results.
- Manage your time, pipeline, and forecasting effectively—providing accurate updates to the Sales & Account Team Leader.
- Constantly look for smarter ways of working to drive team productivity and performance.

- Be comfortable with regular field sales activity, spending significant time on the road building client relationships.

- Proven experience in account management / sales with a passion for building strong, lasting relationships.
- Confident communicator who can engage clients and colleagues at all levels.
- Proactive in generating new business and leads independently.
- Comfortable delivering impactful presentations to a range of audiences.
- Self-motivated with excellent time and task management skills, with attention to deadlines and detail.
- Enthusiastic, passionate, and driven to exceed expectations.
- Uses initiative and sound judgment to solve problems and overcome challenges.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
- Not afraid to challenge the status quo to drive better outcomes.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining high performance even in demanding situations.
- Able to travel frequently and confident working on the road most of the week.
