As our Group Financial Accountant you'll be a key member of the Financial Reporting Team supporting the business in ensuring the Group’s financial results are reported accurately and in line with IFRS.
What will the role involve?
- Responsibility for calculations and postings relating to key financial reporting areas examples may include (split between team), including the group’s loyalty club, and the Group’s provisions for legal claims, C2W, IFRS 16 and IFRS 15 calculations
- Responsibility for intercompany balance sheet accounts, liaising with other members of the Group’s finance team to confirm balances and reconcile these accounts
- May involve a level of business partnering the Group’s finance and legal departments, producing monthly variance reporting against budget, supporting budget owners in understanding and controlling costs, and creating budgets and forecasts for these cost centres
- Preparing balance sheet reconciliations for balance sheet accounts within your areas of – responsibility
- Assist with the preparation of the consolidation
- Engage with the Group’s external auditors for your areas of responsibility, including producing and updating accounting papers for new standards, key areas of judgement, and estimates used by management
- Assist the Group Financial Reporting Manager in providing ad-hoc accounting advice to the business
- The role is a key member of the Group Financial Reporting Team and provides exposure to other areas of the Group Finance Team as well as senior stakeholders such as the Financial Controller and CFO
What skills and behaviours are we looking for?
- Qualified Accountant, either ACA or ACCA, either in a newly or recently qualified capacity and looking to grow your skills and experience in a fast paced environment.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to progress and succeed within the business.
- Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel.
- High attention to detail in every aspect of work undertaken ensuring accuracy of reporting and analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills as the role will involve dealing with senior stakeholders across the Halfords business.
- Enjoy working in a fast paced environment and work well under pressure.
- The ability to build and develop good working relationships with key stakeholders.
- You will be a team player and support the finance team’s objectives.
- Experience with financial reporting with multiple companies would be beneficial for the position.
