As a Workshop Controller, you will be accountable for the smooth running of the Workshop team on a day-to-day basis and have supervisory responsibility.  You’ll allocate jobs to the Workshop team based on technical requirement and customer demand.  Hold daily huddles, ensuring all colleagues are updated on commercial priorities and focused on exceeding customer expectations.  

Technically trained, this role inspires and mentors the Workshop team to develop their technical capabilities and has the flexibility to provide technical support to the team where demand requires it.  This role is an ambassador, promoting the Halfords Values and instils these in the team.

Skills and experience: 

  • Technically trained to Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance standard, or equivalent time served 

  • Experience of managing/supervising a team/workshop to drive performance and delivery 

  • Excellent customer approach - ability to communicate clearly and simply to customers 

  • Experience of developing colleagues through delivery of technical training  

  • Experience of exceeding customer metrics  - working with management to support in driving  key metrics and KPI’s  

  • Experience of meeting compliance standards across Health and Safety and quality 

  • Experience of labour force scheduling, with proven time management skills 

  • Must hold a current full valid driving licence.
