Job Purpose:

Responsible for creation, management, and implementation of the Digital Trading strategy for Retail on halfords.com and halfords.ie to deliver against commercial, customer and business targets.

Within the eCommerce team the Digital Trading Manager will be responsible for Retail Digital budgeting and performance reporting, working closely with all functions within Digital & Customer, Finance, Store Opps, Marketing and Trading to ensure that Sales and Margin opportunities are maximised.  

Key measures of success will be Sales, Margin, NPS and driving product and service conversion rates through excellence in online trading execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Trading Strategy Creation & Implementation

  • In alignment with Digital Merchandising, Digital Optimisation and Digital CRO define the FY Online Retail trading objectives and strategy to drive conversion rate and drive AOV through attach and trade up.
  • Drive the need for critical paths and milestones for all campaigns, strategies, and tactics
  • Empower the eCommerce team and wider team to contribute to the overall strategy.
  • Measure success of the team against the objectives and strategy to identify if any improvements or changes to tactics need to be made.
  • Ensure best possible service is provided remaining up to date with new thinking, best practices in market,  and trends.

Online Budgeting

  • In alignment with finance, category, marketing and CRO ensure the right diligence is in place to ensure accurate forecasting for Retail Sales and Margin, and the right reporting suite to track all commercial levers.

Online Trading Innovation

  • Identify and implement technical enhancements to improve online trading effectiveness and user experience to make their visit engaging, whatever device they use.
  • Integrate new technologies, new ideas & tools into the daily working processes.

Promotional Calendar & Content Brief Ownership

  • Develop a robust, clear promotional calendar and promotional brief process to ensure that every member of the team understands the role they need to play to deliver the brief
  • Actively participate in trading & content promotional reviews to highlight success and identify future improvements to promotions.

Third Party Management

  • Manage relevant partners/suppliers that are providing a service to ensure it delivers against expectations.
  • Manage relevant contracts with partners/suppliers including contract renewal/negotiations and provision of additional value add services and advice)
  • Use Data to Drive Change
  • Ensure we make balanced decisions based on customer, experience, common sense and Data Analytics to improve conversion rates, AOV and sales.

Team Promotion

  • Act as a Halfords ambassador for eCommerce and Digital.
  • Take team achievements and promote them in the wider business to raise the team profile and increase understanding of the function.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Highly experienced in on Trading
  • High experienced in commercials and budgeting
  • Highly numerate with an ability to analyse financial and competitor data to inform commercial decision making
  • Experienced team leader
