About the role

We’re looking for a Head of Property Development to oversee property maintenance, fit-outs, and garage equipment strategy across our entire Group including Retail Stores, Consumer Garages, and Commercial Fleet Services. Leading a 20-strong team, the role combines technical expertise in surveying, tendering, and contractor management with the ability to deliver large-scale programmes across a complex, 1,000-site estate.

Success in this role means balancing technical credibility with leadership impact - inspiring teams, engaging senior stakeholders, and driving improvement across the estate. Key priorities include upgrading sites, modernising garage equipment, strengthening asset management, and supporting transformation programmes, while shaping the Group’s long-term investment strategy.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead all property maintenance and fit-out programmes across the Group, including, Retail Stores, Consumer Garages, and Commercial Fleet Services, ensuring operational standards are met.
  • Oversee contractor and supplier management, delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality.
  • Manage the procurement, installation, and lifecycle maintenance of garage equipment, ensuring safety, compliance, and reliability.
  • Provide strategic leadership to a 20-strong team, developing talent, building capability, and fostering a culture of high performance.
  • Engage effectively with senior stakeholders across Operations, Finance, and Retail, translating technical detail into clear, actionable updates.
  • Safeguard compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements, managing risks across property and equipment operations.
  • Take ownership of budget planning and financial control for property projects, driving cost efficiency and value for the business.
  • Contribute to the long-term property and equipment strategy, supporting investment cases and transformation programmes.

About you

  • Experienced senior property leader with a strong track record in large-scale maintenance, fit-outs, and equipment projects.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams, combining technical credibility with inspiring, supportive leadership.
  • Skilled in contractor management, procurement, and project delivery, with a focus on quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Confident communicator who can engage and influence senior stakeholders, simplifying complex issues for board-level audiences.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets and driving cost efficiencies.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on, problem-solving approach, resilient under pressure and adaptable to change.
  • Passionate about delivering improvements across complex estates, with a customer-focused mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
