About us

Halfords is on a journey - building the future of motoring and cycling and looking for people who want to help shape what comes next. We’re a place for co‑creators: people who want to make a real impact, take ownership and be part of something that’s still evolving.

As the UK’s leading retailer of motoring and cycling products, we’re supported by one of the country’s largest independent vehicle servicing, maintenance and repair networks through Halfords Autocentres. This breadth gives us a strong, stable foundation - and the freedom to keep innovating and growing.

That means real variety for our colleagues, along with the opportunity to learn, stretch and develop as the business moves forward. Whatever your role, you’ll be part of a team focused on delivering exceptional service - using your expertise to solve problems, guide customers and help keep the nation moving with confidence.

About the role

We are seeking an organised and professional Executive Assistant to provide high quality, trusted support to senior technology leaders. Operating at the centre of the technology function, this role plays a critical part in enabling effective leadership, operational rhythm, and organisational resilience. By managing time, priorities and information flow, the Executive Assistant ensures technology leadership can focus on delivering meaningful outcomes for customers and the business.

This is a highly visible role, requiring confidence, discretion and strong coordination skills across a geographically distributed, hybrid workforce. You will bring structure, pace and consistency to leadership activities, governance, communications and external engagement – particularly during periods of change, transformation, and operational incident management.

Key responsibilities

  • Own executive diary and priority management for the CIO, ensuring focus remains on critical outcomes, decisions and commitments across a complex and fast‑moving agenda.
  • Coordinate leadership forums and governance rhythms across the Technology function, including senior leadership meetings, annual planning cycles (budget and people processes) and key decision points.
  • Drive effective organisation‑wide communications for the Technology function, supporting leadership cascades, internal engagement activity and selected external‑facing channels.
  • Enable people processes across the Technology team by coordinating recruitment activity, tracking completion of performance cycles (objective setting, mid‑year and end‑of‑year reviews) and ensuring timely follow‑up.
  • Manage scheduling and coordination across the supplier and partner ecosystem, including senior‑level engagements, quarterly service reviews and exploratory discussions aligned to Technology priorities.
  • Support Technology‑wide events and engagement activity, such as town halls, tech huddles and recognition initiatives, ensuring consistent delivery and strong participation.
  • Screen and prioritise external engagement opportunities, including industry events, round tables and briefings, ensuring leadership time is invested where it delivers the greatest value.
  • Act as a central coordination point during incidents or crisis situations, maintaining contact details, organising cover rotas and supporting clear communication and continuity of operations.

About you

  • A trusted, values‑led Executive Assistant or Executive Administrator who works with integrity, discretion and professionalism.
  • Highly organised and proactive, able to bring structure and clarity to complex, fast‑paced environments.
  • Confident supporting senior leaders and managing competing priorities with calm and sound judgement.
  • Digitally confident and open to new ways of working, including AI‑enabled productivity tools.
  • Proud to make a positive, behind‑the‑scenes impact that enables effective leadership and strong outcomes.

 Reward & benefits

  • A fair and competitive salary evaluated against market data, annual discretionary bonus scheme, pension, life assurance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave.
  • Commitment and dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We help you to own and grow your potential so you can be at your best in your current role and to support your future career aspirations.
  • We offer hybrid working in our Support Centre, you will be based at our Support Centre 3 days a week with an optional 2 days working from home.
  • You will have access to a wealth of employee discounts across the Halfords suite of products and services.
  • Wellbeing and inclusion are at the heart of our colleague experience. We offer resources and ongoing support to enhance your wellbeing at work and active Colleague Networks supporting inclusion initiatives across Halfords.

Not sure you meet all the criteria? We'd encourage you to take the wheel and apply anyway! At Halfords we are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for our colleagues. We're an equal opportunities employer and proud to welcome applications from all backgrounds and embrace diversity within our one Halfords Family.

At Halfords, we operate a hybrid working policy with 3 days on site at our Support Centre in Redditch.
