As our Group Learning Designer, you'll be working as part of the Skills Development team; for the Group Learning & Development Manager.  This role will require you to scope, develop, and design learning interventions to enable our colleagues to have the required skills and knowledge to deliver the needs of our One Halfords Family.

You'll also identify ways to improve existing content, recommending new content and approaches, whilst choosing the best format for sharing training content with the end user.

Please note - flexible work from home options are available but some travel would be required to our support centre in Redditch Worcestershire. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Scope, develop and design training solutions to meet defined business objectives, within specified timescales and budget. This will include interactive eLearning, eBriefs, podcasts, interactive PDFs and video scripts and content amongst others.
  • Manage relationships with subject matter experts to ensure content is accurate as well as meeting their requirements and those of the learner.
  • Taking account for producing engaging content that is timely, high-quality, within budget and timescales.
  • Identify ways to improve current content to align across the Halfords brand and to iteratively improve the learning solution.
  • Work collaboratively across our One Halfords Family to ensure all learning solutions, digital and non-digital, are aligned to embed learning across the business.
  • Work in conjunction with third party providers where needed, to support the build of solutions commissioned externally.
  • Use innovative tools and implement processes to improve the design and curation of learning content
  • Customer focused at all times, understanding colleague needs, constraints and challenges, keeping them at the forefront when taking actions or making decisions.
  • Keep abreast of latest tools, trends and best practice, sharing expertise with the wider Skills Development team to enable continuous improvement of our learning solutions.
  • Attention to detail and ensuring appropriate policies and legal checking where required, is implemented and compliant for created content.

Key Skills/Experience

  • Excellent understanding of using eLearning authoring tools, such as Articulate 360 (Storyline & Rise), Captivate and Creative Cloud packages to create and update content.
  • Proven experience of using eLearning authoring tools, with excellent storyboard and script writing abilities to create engaging learning content.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of learning models, instructional design models and adult learning principles.
  • Ability to research content, analyse and deliver a variety of creative learning materials using blended delivery methods.
  • Ability to engage with colleagues and stakeholder, communicating confidently and effectively throughout the learning development process.
  • Comprehensive understanding of implementing learning to support skills, knowledge and behaviour development through all content design.
  • Awareness of learning management systems and how to maximise personalisation of learning and structure solutions to provide insights to the business.
  • Passion for learning and development and an understanding of how people like to learn, including knowledge of the full training cycle.
  • Positive, can-do attitude with the ability to adapt and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Goal orientated and successful time management to maintain focus on agreed objectives and ensure all projects and targets are delivered.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a wider team.
