JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of this role is to assist the team in ensuring that suppliers are paid correctly, on time, in full such that supplies to the Halfords Garage Business are not disrupted and the appropriate financial records reflect all associated transactions correctly, as well as supporting the Team Manager as detailed in the responsibilities below.
The role will be undertaken as part of a team of 9 people across the Support Centres in Redditch. The department is dynamic and ever changing. As such, the purpose of the role may change over time potentially moving towards greater reporting and analysis rather than document processing).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Build strong commercial relationships with supplier base to avoid service impact.
Purchase invoice processing against Purchase Orders
Raising discrepancies with suppliers
PO query resolution to push invoices through the system for payment
Monthly reconciliation of supplier statements and investigate any spurious balances.
Providing Ops teams with Garage invoice matching data to help with query resolution and to help drive compliance across the estate.
Liaising with the Garage colleagues and other key stakeholders to them assist with queries
Payment processing and allocation, including BACS and DD
Payment query resolution
Investigation of historic balances across the ledger
Payment runs
Support the assigned Team Leader with Continuous Improvement activities and helping to drive best practice
Ad-hoc audit queries in relation your suppliers
KEY SKILLS
You must have a keen eye for detail, the role requires a high level of accuracy.
Proficient in Excel
SAP knowledge is advantageous, but not essential
Previous Accounts Payable experience, preferably with invoice matching experience and dealing with Purchase orders
Must be self-motivated and able to work to deadlines
Flexible approach to work and being able to juggle priorities
Excellent organisational skills
Strong communication skill- especially with key stakeholders
