We are looking for a Head of Group Financial Reporting to join our dynamic finance leadership team and take charge of driving high-quality financial reporting at Halfords. Halfords Group plc is the UK’s leading provider of Motoring and Cycling services and products and this is an excellent opportunity to lead a talented team and make a significant impact on the company’s financial operations and corporate governance.  

About the Role: 

• Lead a team of accountants (c7 fte), ensuring their growth, development, and progression. 

• Manage the interim and full-year external financial reporting process for Halfords Group plc, including ownership of Finance-related sections of the Annual Report and Accounts. 

• Draft and/or review management papers related to key areas of judgment and estimation for external audit. 

• Prepare and present reports to the Audit Committee and support the Investor Relations Director in external reporting and investor-related activities. 

• Own the statutory accounts preparation and ensure compliance with covenant requirements across 20 active entities. 

• Drive process and control improvements, partnering with the transformation team to enhance the record-to-report processes. 

• Own and develop Group accounting policies and the accounting manual. 

About You: 

• Extensive experience in leading financial reporting in a plc environment. 

• ACA qualification preferred; Big 4 experience is a bonus. 

• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills, with the ability to communicate complex information effectively to senior stakeholders. 

• Proven track record of team leadership, with a hands-on approach and great attention to detail. 

• Experience in managing external audit relationships and preparing consolidated financial statements. 

• Ability to drive change and improve processes to increase efficiency.
