We are looking for a Head of Group Financial Reporting to join our dynamic finance leadership team and take charge of driving high-quality financial reporting at Halfords. Halfords Group plc is the UK’s leading provider of Motoring and Cycling services and products and this is an excellent opportunity to lead a talented team and make a significant impact on the company’s financial operations and corporate governance.
About the Role:
Lead a team of accountants (c7 fte), ensuring their growth, development, and progression.
Manage the interim and full-year external financial reporting process for Halfords Group plc, including ownership of Finance-related sections of the Annual Report and Accounts.
Draft and/or review management papers related to key areas of judgment and estimation for external audit.
Prepare and present reports to the Audit Committee and support the Investor Relations Director in external reporting and investor-related activities.
Own the statutory accounts preparation and ensure compliance with covenant requirements across 20 active entities.
Drive process and control improvements, partnering with the transformation team to enhance the record-to-report processes.
Own and develop Group accounting policies and the accounting manual.
About You:
Extensive experience in leading financial reporting in a plc environment.
ACA qualification preferred; Big 4 experience is a bonus.
Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills, with the ability to communicate complex information effectively to senior stakeholders.
Proven track record of team leadership, with a hands-on approach and great attention to detail.
Experience in managing external audit relationships and preparing consolidated financial statements.
Ability to drive change and improve processes to increase efficiency.
