A key role that is at the heart of delivering business performance; as an Assistant buyer for Cycling you will support the buyer in delivering industry leading ranges of products, at the right time, priced and promoted accordingly to deliver the business financial and market share targets You will need to work cross functionally to succeed: with the Customer team to provide insight into the planning cycle, the Procurement team to deliver the best value & drive ESG, the Stock team to maximise stock turn, and Store operations & Digital to deliver best in class channel execution

Key Accountabilities

Support the Buyer for Cycling in the following;

• To implement effective category strategies in terms of managing the supply base, buying, ranging, margin mix, promotional framework, merchandising, planning and stock management, ensuring a true multi channel approach is taken.

• Monitor and manage the on-going trading performance of the category, ensuring we plan and forecast rigorously, to allow us to deliver our revenue, margin, profit and market share ambitions.

 • Drive procurement benefits through developing supplier partnerships and buying alliances.

• Lead the charge on delivering ESG targets—packaging, product, science based targets and emissions for all partners to name the key ones.

• Capturing data and set up products accurately and on time

• Deliver innovation across the categories.

• Monitor and manage the customer experience measures, ensuring tactical interventions are implemented where appropriate.

• Work with the channel and operational teams to ensure we are maximising the trading opportunities available.

• Product expert—working with the proposition team, procurement function and suppliers to ensure we have the best range sourced with the most beneficial financials

Key Skills & Experience

High commercial acumen and analytical

• Strong execution and planning rigor.

 • Pragmatic and grounded / ability to drive delivery.

 • Detailed and comfortable working with data and data entry

 • Cross channel / Multi channel thinking

• Dynamic and results driven individual with high levels of energy and commitment to deliver

• Hands on, and able to respond to fast moving market conditions; fail fast and learn quickly.

• An effective communicator articulate and persuasive ; able to build strong relationships across the business at all levels.
