As one of our Customer Proposition & Category Strategy Managers you'll play a strategic role to define the long term customer proposition and category strategy for the Halfords Group. 

The role holder will have excellent customer vision and be able to translate this into real world customer-led solutions, executed brilliantly through our channels.
 
Strong leadership, influencing, and team development skills will be a core to the role holder. 
 
Responsibilities 
  • Set the end to end experience vision, championing delivery & executional excellence of customer journeys.
  • Develop an excellent understanding of customers across all categories and ensure our decision making is both ‘Customer first’ and ‘Digitally led’.
     
  • Creation of strategy which includes customer promises, brand, pricing and solution.
     
  • Identification of new opportunities and accountable for all customer change, including the creation of solutions and prop-ositions over multi year horizons.
     
  • Be actively engaged in external bodies and events that impact the area of ownership.
     
  • Co-ordinate the creation of business cases and solution designs for new propositions, ensuring cross functional support and ‘buy in’, in particular with trading and operations.
     
  • Lead the delivery of major category and proposition strategies, ensuring we deliver angst the commercial and customer vision.
     
  • Be a passionate “seller” of solutions; usage skills to sell products and solutions in customer language across all channels and customer touch points, complimenting our buying teams.
     
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with other departments , including trading, operations and marketing.
     
  • Determine and participate in major projects to improve the overall customer experience and profitability.
     
  • Ensure that the category strategy is aligned with the overall brand strategy and meets the customer needs in partnership with marketing.
     
  • Set annual budget with customer led approach to financial planning.

 Skills and experience: 

  • Customer experience leader who understands customer service excellence—a champion and intuitive (a natural ability to connect with and for end customer).
     
  • End to end customer proposition creator and developer—digitally led.
     
  • Category management breadth and strength , with service as well as retail experience.
     
  • High commercial acumen and financially robust.
     
  • A creative and innovative mind, strategic thinker & futuristic and broad as a thought leader/visionary.
     
  • Ability to ‘join the dots’ between individual and group wide strategy & proposition development for the betterment of area of responsibility.
     
  • Able to understand, interpret, challenge and build actionable insight from complex data sets.
     
  • Executional expert.
     
  • A skilled “seller” - ensuring the solution is sold in customer language

We operate a Hybrid working approach here at Halfords but some travel at times will be required to our support centre in Redditch Worcestershire.
