  • Deliver high quality, actionable insight to the category teams enabling them to make better trading decisions using customer data
  • Responsible for delivering customer analytics elements of the Range Review process for all Bronze Range Reviews
  • Responsible for measurement of key trading initiatives (e.g. price changes, range changes) – defining and measuring the right customer KPIs to define success and combining with other metrics (e.g. financial metrics) to give a clear view of performance.
  • Responsible for development of category customer reporting to provide the trading teams with access to customer insight
  • Builds strong relationships with the category teams, working closely with the category managers and buyers to understand their key priorities and identify opportunities for analytics support
  • Drive engagement with customer insight with a wide range of stakeholders across the whole business to increase understanding of Halfords customers and identify opportunities for growth
  • Collaborate with the insight team to complement behavioural analysis with customer feedback – adding the “Why” to the “What”.

You will:

  • Deliver customer insight to the category teams – primarily using the Group SCV (Single Customer View) database but also using Google Analytics where relevent
  • Present analytics projects directly to the category teams in a simple, actionable format that are able to understand and use in their decision making
  • Identify opportunities to automate analysis and build self serve tools for the category teams to use.
  • Be an expert in the Group SCV and advanced analytical techniques, developing new ways to interrogate data to answer key questions
  • Ensure that all analysis is robust and accurate – educating the business on what is possible from our SCV data set
  • Present insight in a simple, digestible way to key stakeholders, influencing them to make different decisions as a result of customer insight
  • Develop strong relationships with the Category Managers and Buyers to deliver projects that align to their priorities and category plans

Your experience

  • Degree educated in numerate discipline (e.g. Maths, Economics)
  • Ability to turn complex data into simple, actionable insights and explain complex analysis to non technical stakeholders
  • Preferable: experience in  retail and commercial understanding of key commercial drivers and where/how insight can drive decision making
  • preferable – experience using data extraction/modelling tool (SAS, SQL, R)
  • preferable - use of data visualisation tooling  (Power BI, Tableau)
  • preferable - experience using digital analytics tool (Google Analytics, Core Metrics) to analyse online behaviour

Your skills and qualifications

  • A degree equivalent in mathematical, business, economics or a mathematical subject
  • Ideally at least 2 years’ experience (ideally within retail), with a strong background specifically in analytics
  • Analytical mindset but always mindful of the commercial applications of the data and how to communicate these at different levels of the business
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Strong data mindset and inclination towards fact-based decisions
  • Good attention to detail and takes responsibility for the accuracy of their work

  • An evangelist for customer and our relationships with them, obsessed about delivering the right message at the right time and with the right content
  • Possession of level of gravitas – able to influence senior stakeholders
