Job Purpose

This role acts as the Financial Business Partner to the Retail Director, Group Property Director, IT Director and the senior Logistics management team. The team delivers financial analysis and insight to support decision making across the team; whilst providing challenge, support and influence to ensure we make the optimal commercial decisions. Supporting 450+ shops and managing a spend of over £300m, this role is critical in ensuring the success of the business objectives

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted partner to the Retail Director, Group Property Director, Group IT Director and the senior Logistics management team. Providing the right balance of challenge and support around decision making
  • Leading and developing a high performing team that acts as the “critical friend” of the business
  • Ownership of all cost expenditure providing regular updates on actual spends and view point on the years outturn including any risks or opportunities
  • Drive management action, financial control and appropriate decision making ensuring strong ROI on all investments
  • Drive a step change in use of analytics and financial modelling to reduce reporting time and focus on value added activities
  • Quarterly forecasting and budgeting, highlighting opportunities for challenge and risks to the senior stakeholders and Finance Directors to ensure strategy is in line with overall Business objectives
  • Take a leading role in the management of shop hours ensuring value for money as we drive shop efficiency and sales
  • Participate in the 5 year plan by using insight and Commercial knowledge to drive out appropriate growth targets and strategic opportunities for growth
  • Provide guidance and coaching for the team whilst overseeing and providing quality control for their outputs. Ensuring departmental mandate and business goals are met and that professional standards are maintained at all times. Implementing development plans and aiding career progression amongst the team

  • A proven track record of high performance in a commercial finance business partnering role
  • Professional Qualification (ACA,CIMA or equivalent)
  • Experience of good cross-functional working
