Job Purpose

We have a number of exciting, innovative projects lined up and we’re looking for motivated individuals to manage them. The Product Owner will bring together cross-functional teams, ensure the objectives are well-defined and the team has clarity at all times, produce project plans and business cases, and relentlessly drive the projects forward to ensure completion on time and within budget. You’ll be responsible for delivering projects from conception through to operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand and agree key objectives and deliverables of the project(s), including the timescales
  • Produce and maintain project plans and critical paths
  • Understand commercial drivers and business strategy to ensure appropriate project prioritisation
  • Identify key stakeholders and establish working groups where relevant. Ensure clarity of objectives and actions amongst all of those in the project team
  • Identify internal and external interdependencies and cross-functional impacts of the project(s), and ensure these are monitored and addressed
  • Assertively drive forward the project(s) within the agreed cost and timescale, and provide regular reporting on project progress
  • Consult internal or external subject matter experts where necessary
  • Conduct background research, data collection and/or benchmarking
  • Record, monitor and chase completion of actions
  • Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and ensure they are appropriately communicated with
  • Manage risks, issues and changes, including change budgets, escalating as appropriate
  • Ensure organisational procedures, project methodologies/standards and best practice are adhered to
  • Where applicable, write tender documents and manage tender processes with potential suppliers
  • Write business cases and investment requests, ensuring that all spend approval processes are adhered to
  • Monitor and record expenditure to ensure adherence to approved spend limits

  • Project or Product Manager with proven record of successfully delivering projects to timeline and cost
  • Proven experience of working across many different functions and across differing seniority of stakeholders
  • Experience of projects with a high IT/digital element
